Title: All diseases stem from cold
(^ disclaimer: that's my interpretation, and I don't claim to be always right)

Growing up, I was sometimes chastised for walking around the house barefooted, especially when the house had marble tile floors. "You'll get cold! You'll be sorry for it one day!!", they always said. Well, I despised being overly warm and really didn't pay much attention.

According to this book, the elders were right. The book focused on explaining the in's and out's of why it's important to raise and maintain the temperature for one's lower half of the body. Upon reflection, that makes sense: The upper half of the body is usually warmer than the lower half of the body.

There are two easy ways to warm up the bottom half of the body: wear many layers of sock, and take baths regularly.

1) While I've promised my dearly beloved that I won't wear 14 layers of socks (alternating between silk and cotton layers of toe socks and regular socks), I've been dutifully wearing socks and slippers around the house. Attribute it to my old age or terribly weak circulation, but, these floors are cold on my feet.

2) The bath water is to be 36-37 degrees Celsius, no higher.  I'm still experimenting with this one, as I usually take baths that are too hot! The idea is that you want to warm up your calves and legs, not burn them to lobster-red.

The book is a short, easy read. The essential points are actually covered in the book cover... which I discovered AFTER I had completed my read. In my opinion, the bigger picture message that I'm taking away is that one should strive to have strong workings of the circulatory system.

Star rating system:
1 star: can skip
2 star: consider reading it
3 star: good book
4 star: good book that I enjoyed
5 star: strong recommendation
