It was difficult to start and complete my 5k run:
- Cold #5
- Mini fevers on and off all week...
- Headaches on and off all week...
- Slept funny one night, and woke up with the right side of my body feeling tingly, and my right knee "weak". "Weak" as in limping, tho I cannot see a wound or understand how to fix it...
- While I routinely do 2-3 miles on the treadmill or elliptical each time I visit the machines, I haven't trained for this race. I've probably been on the cardio twice in the last month... T_T
To date, I have yet to miss a run or a stair walk, and I hope to stick to this. While I will sit out on gatherings if I'm not well, it simply hasn't crossed my mind to miss a race I've said I would do.
So off we went...
Very grateful that today turned out to be a perfect race day - no extra humidity, no rain, clear skies and a gentle breeze. We got down to the race site in good times.
Following the run, I learned:
- I don't know how to jog. I know how to walk, speed walk, or sprint. And sprint faster. But jogging, is a foreign territory to be further explored.
- DH has extra love and patience for his stubborn little wifey. I'm glad he kept me on my jogging pace, and humored me when I sprinted at the end
- I am limping more now, but that is ok. The post-run food was worth it, as was the swag...
- I can do anything I focus attention on. I actually did jog about 4 of the 5k, and at the time, my body definitely would have preferred that I didn't jog...! I'm already feeling the stiffness and soreness, but hey, I did it!!
No one and no pain can take that away from me.
